Hartmann and Forbes: Sustainability | Drapery Connection

Hartmann and Forbes: Sustainability

In a world where sustainability and the reduction of environmental impact is taking center stage, Hartmann and Forbes remains on the cutting edge of these ideas in the window treatment industry. They remain committed to the production of shades, wood blinds, and draperies with dozens of natural materials ranging from jute to hemp. Not only does this give a unique and refined feel to each of their window coverings, but unique touches like their “woven-to-size” lines and use of Old World techniques provides a truly custom look.

As the only wood blind hand-crafter left in the industry, they keep this exquisite product “green” as well! Locally milled woods are produced into blinds under strict government regulations in order to promote healthy ecosystems. But it doesn’t stop there; since 2005 Hartmann and Forbes has been taking part in “Project Green”, a company-wide power and paper recycling initiative. On top of that, they offer a “Take-Back” program, where they will recover old treatments for reuse or recycling.
